Father's Day Weekend

Wow, what an exciting family weekend we had to celebrate Father's Day. I hope Jason realizes what an essential part of this family he is. He is SO good with the kids and helps out tons around the house. Not to mention how much Jack and Lauren look up to their daddy. He means the world to all of us and we hope he had a truly wonderful Father's Day! We love him so much!!On Sat. morning, we headed up to Forest Park for a hike. It was a little cold, but we didn't get rained on.
Ms. Independent, Lauren, wanted to walk on her own. She loved it, even though it took her a while to get up the hill.

Walking with Daddy.

After our hike and brunch, the kids hung out with Jason and watched golf. The rest of day, we went on a bike ride and continued to watch the US Open. Jason and I enjoyed a quiet sushi dinner after the kids went down. It was as close to a date as we could get this week and it was great!

This is Father's Day morning. Lauren got up at 5:30 (ugh), but it gave me tons of time to make Jason's breakfast. While I was making it, Lauren was beside herself. She WANTED her Daddy, but Jason had strict orders to stay in bed. So, Lauren would scream "Daddy Daddy" at the top of her lungs. Yeah, so much for sleeping in for Jason. Poor guy....Once the banana bread and sausage frittata were ready, the kids and I ventured upstairs to deliver his breakfast in bed. While Jason ate, I let the kids enjoy a piece of banana bread in bed with Jason. They thought it was the best thing ever. Our sheets on the other hand.....that's a different story. =)
Inside Jason's card from Jack were a few questions Jack answered about Jason. I had asked Jack several questions about Jason last week and wrote down his answers. The answers were cute and Jason said that he wanted to keep them in the baby book for lots of laughs down the road.
Here are a few of Jack's answers:
How old is Daddy?
22
What does Daddy look like?
His hair looks funny.
Why?
Because he has no hair on it, but his tummy has hair on it.
What does Daddy like to do?
Play with me and Lauren
What does Daddy do at work?
Work…drives tractors
What is Daddy’s favorite thing to do?
Play with me and Lauren
What does Jack love about his Daddy?
Hugging him and kissing him
What does Jack like to do with Daddy?
Play with him….like with my toys
The kids enjoyed opening Jason's Father's Day presents.

Then we were off to Starbucks and the Farmer's Market.

Eating a snack outside Starbucks.
When there are no trees around to climb, I guess a lamp post is just as fun.

After naps, it was off to Freddies to buy Jack a sleeping bag. He wanted an orange one! Jason and Jack are planning on camping out in our backyard sometime this summer, so we had to get some camping gear for Jack. (I can't wait for the stories about the boys' camp out! Stay tuned....)

Enough room for two. I told Jason that Lauren would have to join them on their overnight adventure in our backyard. =) But, Jason told me I would have to sleep out with them...so, I guess Lauren will be waiting until next summer....

Then it was time to mow the lawn. Poor Jason, Lauren cries if he doesn't hold her while he mows. She is getting heavy and it is quite a workout for Jason, but of course, he doesn't want his little princess to be upset. =)
Finally, we ended our Father's Day weekend with movie night. What a great weekend we had just the four of us!

Happy Father's Day to Jason! He's always been the 'dad' out of the group and what a great one he is! I love Jack's answers to your questions. What a crack up! Such a clever idea and one you'll enjoy reading over the years. Can't wait to see you guys on Wednesday!
