We had a really mellow day today and had so much fun. Although, this was unplanned, we did a little summer school at home today followed up with some recess! Check it out~
It all started when I told Jack we could work on his "letter book" (a workbook that teaches kids how to properly write letters). While I was putting Lauren down, Jack ran downstairs and got out his workbook and crayons all by himself. He was so excited to do his "letter book" and have some one-on-one time with his mommy before he took his nap.
I was so proud of him today. He was working on writing the letter h. He tried so hard...you should see how cute he is when he is concentrating. After he finished a page, we both found the letter that we thought looked the best. Once the letter was found, we circled it and put a star above it. Jack thought this was the best!
After Lauren got up from her 3 1/2 hour nap?!?!? she grabbed a book all by herself, sat in her chair and began reading. I should have gotten a video of it, because she pointed to the items in the pictures and named them. It was just like we do it when we read books together! So cute!!!! I love that she is now getting interested in books.
Now do you see why it felt like we were in school today? Everytime I turned around the kids were reading, writing or drawing.
She was so proud of herself. Lauren would grab a book and say, "My do it." (I love how she tells me that she is going to do something. It is the cutest thing ever.) She is really getting into an independent stage....we hear "my do it" several times a day now.
After our "school" time of reading and writing, it felt like recess! Out of nowhere, the kids started running all over the house. Then Jack pulled Lauren on his blanket.

Lauren being pulled by Jack. You should have heard the laughter! Priceless.

Then we heard Lauren say, "My do it." So, she tried to pull Jack on the blanket. But, Jack was a little too heavy for her.
After many tries, she gave up and decided to tackle Jack instead.
What a great day at home with the kids. You know, it is these times at home that are the most memorable. Nothing special planned, but SO many memories made!

You can take the teacher out of the classroom, but you can't take the classroom out of the teacher. Nana
