Spoiled

Yes, I am talking about myself in the title of this post. I am spoiled. What a wonderful mother's day it has been. Jason told me that I got to sleep in and gave me strict instructions to stay in bed. Of course, I listened!!!!
As I am laying in bed this morning the first sounds I hear are Jack and Lauren's little voices. Jack is saying, "Daddy, can we go now?" or "Daddy, is it time? I'm so excited!" Then I hear Jason, being SO patient, "We just have to wait until the french toast is done." Next I hear Lauren saying, "Mommy go?" And, again, Jason patiently says, "Lauren, we will see Mommy in a minute." Finally, I hear the pitter patter of Jack and Lauren's small feet running for the stairs...then up the stairs they come. Jack runs in our room with the biggest smile on his face. He gives me a card and helps me open it. (I'll share the story about the Mother's Day card in a bit.) Next Lauren gives me her card and she too is looking so happy. Jason gives me my french toast in bed. (Which Jack thought was so funny. He asked Jason, "Why would Mommy want to eat where she is supposed to sleep?" Too cute.) So, I ate my breakfast in bed with Jason, Jack and Lauren right next to me. It really doesn't get much better than that!!!!
I have to share this little story about Jason taking BOTH kids out to get my Mother's Day card and gift. First of all, isn't Jason the best? Taking both kids out on his own to get me something. He is the best. Anyway, Jason let Jack pick out my Mother's Day card. While they were at the store, Jason showed Jack all of his options. After a few minutes of looking at all the cards, Jason looked over to see Jack crying. When he asked Jack what was wrong, Jack's response was, "Daddy, I just CAN'T decide which card Mommy is going to like the best." That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard. He was so distraught wanting to make the best choice for me. What a great little guy he is....see I'm so spoiled. Lauren also picked out my card. Jason told me that when she saw Elmo on a mother's day card, her decision was made. She was so excited to give it to me this morning. Even better she gave me a kiss and said, "uve you" (love you). Precious.
The rest of the morning was great. We went on a walk/bike ride, fed ducks, went to the farmer's market and out to lunch. And, lastly, Jason is making dinner. Ah, what a treat that is. I am SO spoiled to have such a wonderful husband and two perfect little ones.

Here we are feeding the ducks in the pond.

The ducks liked their treats so much, they decided to come out of the water to get a bit closer.
This picture cracks me up. After the ducks came out of the water, Jack got really scared. He started crying and telling me that the geese need to get back in the water. Then there is Lauren. See her?? She is trying to get out of my arms to get closer to the ducks. I think she would have pet them if she could. What a difference in the two kids.
After the ducks were fed, we walked on the trails.
And, Jack rode his bike.

Here is Jack, pretending to pump up his tires, so his bike will go faster.
We all found sticks and pine cones and threw them in the water. The kids loved watching them float down the water.
What an unforgettable day it has been. I'm so lucky~

I laughed out loud at the picture of Jack and the ducks! Ha ha!! That's EXACTLY what I would have done, buddy, they make me kind of nervous.
Molly, I love how you embrace the simplest, sweetest things your kids do every day. What sweet little monsters you have, making you brekkie in bed!! Jason does get 4 stars for his stellar performance on Mother's Day. I'll have to relay this tale to Mark... don't know if he could hack it, juggling 2 kids, french toast and card selection!
